This tells your realtor what you can afford based on your income and credit score. While in the home-buying process, talk to your lender about any big financial plans you have! Buying a car while trying to buy a house can mess up the transaction dramatically  

Should I buy or continue renting?

This depends on your personal situation. Buying a home can be the biggest purchase of your life, but also the biggest investment. With proper knowledge and guidance, you can leverage the equity in your home. You should consider how long you plan to own the property. Are you capable of the commitment and responsibilities of homeownership?
